Imagine locking a female prisoner in the same cell where there are a couple of condemned male prisoners. What do you think will happen to that lady? Sure she will be raped and assaulted in turns by the condemned male prisoners who have nothing worse to expect from the warder and the courts and by reason of the long detention have been sexually starved. They will gore her body like hungry lions until they are all satisfied or she is dead.
God’s prison yard?
The lake of fire is God’s ultimate prison yard for everyone that refused to repent and be washed with the blood of Jesus by the time he closed his eyes in death on the earth. However, the original occupants that the lake of fire was constructed for was the devil and his fallen angels.
“And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night forever and ever”. (Revelation 20:10)
That is why the eternal punishment is unimaginable and not proportional to the offense any man can ever commit. However, it is not until a person gets to the lake of fire that the person is locked in a prison facility that God has placed the devil inside. Even while on the earth, there are some things you can get involved in that will put you in a position that the devil will have a free liberty to batter you despite your cries to God for help just like the lady prisoner in the analogy above will be dealt with. It will be like a living hell. What can take someone into the same prison yard that God kept the devil and all the demons;
1. Unforgiveness –
“And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil”. (Luke 11:4)
If you refuse to forgive others, then your sins are not going to be forgiven as well. Try and juxtapose the quantity of the wrong that that person you are finding difficult to forgive has done for you, place it side by side with what you have done for the Lord since you were born. Which one is greater? If you don’t forgive others, your own forgiveness which you have received will be undone. That will be the most important verdict that your accuser – the devil – who has always been looking for ways to deal with you wants to hear about you, before he switches to action on a full scale without interference from God the only one that can help you. Until Job prayed for his friends that spoke against him he did not come out of his woes. The 13 years in of slavery and imprisoning in Egypt might have been more prolonged if Joseph did not yield to God to forgive his brothers.
2. Un-confessed sin (covered sin) –
Going into sin is a great disservice to your self. It is like your spiritual fence that is preventing the devil to reach at you is cracked. The bible said: “He that diggeth a pit shall fall into it; and whoso breaketh a hedge, a serpent shall bite him”. (Ecclesiastes 10:8)
So the next thing for the devil is to try and smuggle a serpent into to your life. As bad as that is, an attempt to cover it up is the greatest joy for the devil. If you had repented quickly and restituted your ways, you would have frustrated what the devil wanted to achieve in your life by that singular act. But as long as you are attempting to cover the sin instead of repenting from it, then your doom is sealed. “He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy”. (Proverbs 28:13). This action will put you in a living hell. David was there for a time when he killed Uriah to conceal his sin.
3. Sin against the Holy Ghost – conscious disobedience to the dictate of the Holy Ghost. Wilful Contempt to what the Holy Ghost is doing.
“For if we sin willfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries. He that despised Moses law died without mercy under two or three witnesses: Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden underfoot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?” (Hebrews 10:26-29)
When any child of God goes into sin, wilfully, deliberately, flagrantly disobeying divine restraint of the Holy Spirit, there person is not just having the devil as his enemy; God becomes His enemy at that point. This is the worst posture anyone can be. “It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God”.(Hebrews 10:31)
4. Sharing in God’s glory. One critical issue that God cannot joke with is His glory.
It is the good pleasure of God for every of His child to walk in great height of supernatural doing. As a matter of fact, our Lord Jesus said greater scale of the miraculous works will follow those that believe in Him. “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father”. (John 14:12). He even called them gods. “I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High”. (Psalms 82:6).
However, He expects that everything we use the power and the might of God to do on the earth should be ascribed to Him explicitly, implicitly, always, everywhere and at every opportunity. God rounded off Moses ministry not really because of anger, rather anger made him to talk and act in a way that did not ascribe glory to God. Check your life very well.
