The first and ultimate resort

Many people (even many so called believers) approach God only as a last resort. When they are faced with issues, they first try other areas and means to solve the issue. They try people, devil, occult, superstitions, science, money, materials etc to solve their problems. It is when they discover that none of those things have been able to solve their problems that they turn to God resolutely. They seek God as a last resort after trying many other things. In their mind, the issue of approaching God desperately and resolutely should happen on a worst case scenario when other avenues have failed. Well, that has an advantage on its own because when eventually God solves their issue, it will be clear in their minds that there is no superior power anywhere else.

However if they consider it very carefully, they would discover that they suffered needless pains while they were seeking for their solutions elsewhere. Many must have lost time, money, materials, dignity and other unrecoverable things while patronizing other means of solving their problems. Many will find out that they actually got themselves into deeper mess than the ones they wanted to solve. Many eventually learnt the lesson that only God is the ultimate solver of all issues in a very hard way after suffering so much damage. For many people, they will always have indelible scars in their lives to show for those attempts they made at solving their problem outside God.

A popular saying says that “Experience is the best teacher”. I want to point out that this is not true in all cases as many people have gone through very rough experiences that taught them lessons they themselves can no longer make use of, they can only use the lessons they learnt from their experiences to advice other people as they have suffered irrevocable damage already. For instance a mother that ruined the lives of his children to the extent that some died in circumstances that showed gross parenting flaws. She may be able to counsel other people on how not to fall into the same pit, but her dead children are clearly beyond repairs. In such a case, learning by obedience to instructions would have been a much better teacher to the woman.

In the same vein instead of having to go through the trouble of trying so many other means of solving your issues in your life and afterwards come back desperately and resolutely to God for the solution after suffering so much damage, a better approach to life is to make God the first and ultimate sort when you are confronted with issues of life. Don’t just approach Him casually as if you have other means of getting it done. Approach Him with faith, confidence and a strong resolution that that the loving eternal father has promised not to keep anything good from His children.

“(For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things”. (Matthew 6:32 KJV+)

“If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?” (Matthew 7:11 KJV+)

Are you a young boy or girl? You are in the best position to benefit from this message as you probably have not made so many critical and irrevocable decisions of life (about marriage, career, location, friends etc) yet. You don’t have to go into the busiest and what is supposed to be the most productive aspect of your life gambling and dabbling to issues without the guiding instruction and company of God. You don’t have to make mistakes that others that have gone ahead of you made and have slowed them down in life or damaged them outrightly. You don’t have to live up to your forties, fifties, sixties, seventies before you conclude like the preacher in the bible that many things that look flashy in this life are vanity.

Vanity of vanities, saith the Preacher, vanity of vanities; all is vanity”. (Ecclesiastes 1:2 KJV+)

Instead of first chasing the vanities of life, you can lay hold on the substance which is the word of God. You can invest every moment of your life into ventures that will yield you rewards on earth and in eternity. That is why the bible says;

“Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh, when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them;” (Ecclesiastes 12:1 KJV+)

In case you feel you have wasted so much of your life and suffered so many injuries because you have not started out in your life seeking God, you also need this message so much. You can redeem the time. You can make the best out of your days that remain. If you cooperate with God, you can achieve far better in your latter days that will cover for your laxities in the past. If God started with Moses at age 80 and still made his name and ministry indelible in th sand of time, he can begin with you from where you are now and make something fantastic and original out of you.

In the over all analysis, it is much better to make God the first and ultimate resort in life. Are you faced with challenges of life? Let God be your first point of call. If you approach Him with faith, holding His word in your hands of faith, if you insist on His promises as written in the Bible without wavering, if you diligently fulfil the conditions that are attached to the promises, you will discover that making Him your first point of call will turn out to be the ultimate point of call. He’ll handle your cares for you and you will find rest in Him. He will stand by you and carry you through life’s storms. Don’t plunge your life into needless sufferings that have killed, wreaked and maimed a lot of people, make God you first and final point of call in your quest for solutions to life’s issue. In Him dwells all answers to your question.
