Pastor E. A Adeboye said he leant many things from his biological father. One of those things he learnt was that when a lion wakes up in the morning, he prays to God saying “God please show me the animal that is supposed to be my meat today, then leave us alone. Don’t help me and do not help him. Just leave us alone”. If I should interpret this, I will say each time you hear a lion roar, he is actually praying the just mentioned prayer point. Of course that is an analogy.
The bible describes the devil as roaming about like a hungry lion seeking who he may devour. Now let’s get it straight, he is not a lion. Only Jesus is described in the bible as the Lion of the tribe of Judah. Jesus is the only authentic lion. The devil is not. However, the bible says the devil does something that lions do. The devil roars. He roars like a lion.
The roaring of a lion instils fear in the other animals as they start to panic. Some may even become confused and transfixed in a position. The next thing it will notice is the claw of the lion tearing its flesh.
This is what the devil tries to do. All his stunts is to create so much fear, magnifying what he can do while hoping that God will not intervene in the issue. He knows that is the only thing that can prevent him from stealing, killing and destroying anybody (no matter who the person is). No human can match the devil in strength, experience, resources, wisdom etc. If you leave devil and man alone in a duel without God’s intervention, the result is already determined. The devil will win every time.
However, the game changes when God steps in and takes over the battle from the man and confront the devil. The result is also clearer than crystal. God will always win over the devil every time. So for the devil to win, he tries to use everything possible to prevent God from entering the fight. He either lures the man into sin knowing fully well that when God sees the sin, he will not come into the battle ring. Another ploy is for the devil to deceive the person that he doesn’t need God to win. He will try to boost the persons confidence in himself so that he will not seek God. This gladdens the devil because he knows fully well that if the he meets the person anytime without God the issue is settled in favour of the devil. That was what he did for the Israelites on in the wilderness (Numbers 22-24). Balaam could not curse them, because no iniquity was found in Jacob. “He hath not beheld iniquity in Jacob, neither hath he seen perverseness in Israel: the LORD his God is with him, and the shout of a king is among them”. (Num 23:21). So balaam the derailed prophet advised Balak to send the Moabite ladies to go and seduce the Israelites men. That trick worked (oh, that lion’s prayer worked) and God left the Israelites at that point, and destruction befell them. “Behold, these caused the children of Israel, through the counsel of Balaam, to commit trespass against the LORD in the matter of Peor, and there was a plague among the congregation of the LORD”. (Num 31:16)
Beloved, this is the devils uttermost wish for you. He wants to make sure you are left alone without God’s assistance. Yong man, next time you see that girl dressing almost naked seducing you into fornication, do not stay there looking, that is the assassins’ ploy to destroy you. That sugar Daddy was placed there by the devil praying that you will fall into the adulterous advances so that the devil can steal your destiny and destroy you eternally.
So will you act in answer to the prayer of the devil? Will you allow God to leave you alone? The minutes of pleasure in sin will lead you to an eternity in the lake of fire. Give your life to Christ today. Tomorrow may be too late. Without God, you are totally lost. Come to Jesus today. Accept yourself as a sinner, ask God to forgive you your sins, decide to go and sin no more. Do not be the answer to the devils prayer.
